Facebook Planning Massive Recruitment Drive, To Hire ‘Thousands’

Social networking giant Facebook is planning to start a major employment drive in 2012, to fill up vacancies in its New York City offices.
The company announced that it plans to open an engineering centre in New York City, its biggest office outside the West Coast area. Facebook said that it wants to add thousands of new employees, who will enhance the features on the platform and write new code for the website.
Facebook announced its recruitment plans during a press conference, which saw the unveiling of the new engineering centre that will be opened early next year.
"We'll be adding thousands of employees in the next year," said Facebook Chief Operating Operator Cheryl Sandberg, informing that the company plans to hire as many as possible, without giving a definitive figure.
The company already has offices in Madison Avenue but plans to increase its presence in the Big Apple by through the new engineering centre. Facebook revealed that it has already starting accepting job applications for the new centre.
"Facebook is capitalizing on what more and more tech companies are realizing: that New York City is the best place in the world to recruit and retain a talented workforce. We're well on our way to achieving our goal, and that is to become the world's number one hub for information technology and social media", said New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg during the press conference.
