BlackBerry service disruption inconveniences users

“You may be facing intermittent issues while using the BlackBerry service as the primary link towards RIM (Research in motion) is down. Our technical team is working on getting the same resolved. Regret the inconvenience”.

BlackBerry users are receiving such text messages explaining the many problems they face as the primary link to RIM is down. Sometimes accessibility to the messenger fails or the BlackBerry hangs.

Says Kaushal Sekhani, an entrepreneur, “A couple of months ago, there was a complete blackout of BlackBerry services for a day. Even though there hasn’t been any total blackout since then, often the network of BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) fails and the issue doesn’t get quickly resolved”.

Another user Puja Rajkumar, says, “Not only does the BBM often fail, the phone also hangs in the middle of urgent work, especially while sending or checking emails. The phone remains in this condition for 5-10 minutes. It happens at least two or three times every month. Moreover, BBM or social networking sites aren’t always accessible”.

Pritpal Singh, who provides services for mobile networks, says there have been complaints from BlackBerry users of late.

“Sometimes it’s to do with respective service providers, which happens with cell-phones of all companies, but at times, owing to some issues with the government, BB services are disrupted,” he said.
